The Red Elephant! YUMMY!

Hi there my beloved blog stalkers! I have a great new restaurant for you to try out....The Red Elephant Pizza and Grill! We went last night for their open house/training event. We were welcomed in to an evening of complimentary food and drinks to try out the menu and see how the staff is doing before their official opening. All I can say is WOW! It was fabulous! The Red Elephant is a fun, comfortable atmosphere that is perfect for families or a date! Everything was fresh and so good! The staff could not be nicer! So if you are looking for a new restaurant, give The Red Elephant a try! It is located at 14391 N Dale Mabry in Tampa or call 813-908-PIZA (7492). And yes, it is north of Kennedy (all you South Tampaians...ha!)- but it is totally worth the 15 minute drive! Bon appetite!

Holiday Mini Sessions

Quick update on holiday mini sessions...I still have 2 time slots left for tomorrow (Saturday, October 4) for the mini session and only 1 time slot left for the location session at the University of Tampa on Saturday, October 18. Mini session are 20 minutes and include the session, an online gallery for viewing and sharing your 10-12 proofs, 50 custom 5x7 folded holiday cards, 1 mounted 8x10, and 2 mounted 5x7's for $350. Update on the Chinese Gymnasts..

Well, it came out today that the Chinese gymnasts really were old enough to compete in the Olympics. Do I beleive it? Not too sure. After all, the information was received from the Chinese government (who takes gymnasts away from their families as young children to train them to represent their country). I mean..I am just saying....

A Future Gator- Meet Will!

3 1/2 months is such a fun age to photograph- especially when the baby is Will (who happens to look like he is 5 or 6 months old!)! What a cutie pie! And even better- his parents are Gators, met at the University of Florida, and bleed orange and blue! Gotta love that!! This boy is destined to greatness! Will did so well throughout his session, then reached that point- and the game was over! Sleeping baby! Enjoy your "teasers" Jen and Jack and GO GATORS!! (Saturday was a rough day for Gators nationwide...) :(

OK, so this is not an engagement session- it is Jim and Pam- from The Office...my favorite show, which premeired tonight! This show is hilarious! HILARIOUS! It did take Pete and I a couple episodes to get into it, but then we were hooked! I cannot get enough! And Jim is my celebrity crush! He is sooo cute (do I sound like a teenage girl??!!) Dancing With the Stars is back!

I LOVE Dancing With The Stars! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! And I am thrilled that Maks- the bad boy of the dance floor is back! So my early favorites are: Lance Bass and Lacy Schwimmer (any relation to David from Friends??), Rocco DSpirto and Karina Smirnoff, Cody Linley and Julianne Hough (OK, she is a favorite of my husband. She is adorable!), and Misty May-Treanor and Maks (moslty because I am still going through an Oylmpic withdrawl since it ended and I love Maks! Too bad they could not get Michael Phelps! ha!). Stephanie and Paul...expecting!

When Paul got to their photo shoot, I asked him what their baby's name was going to be. He said Pizanno (I think?!). Uumm, OK I thought. Must be a family name, right? Ha! He said that Stephanie wants to keep it a secret but that she craved Italian food all throughout her pregnancy, so Baby Pizanno is what they are calling him in the mean time! That makes me laugh! Staphanie and Paul were my first couple who had the "honor" of being photographed in my new studio space! I was super excited (they probably thought I was nuts...but an additional 10 more feet by 17 more feet is HUGE to me! HUGE!!) I was so happy to really be able to move around without stepping on myself! I could have done a dance I was so happy. (It's the little things in life, right?!) OK, enough about me....back to this adorable couple! Stephaine had to re-schedule; her original session was supposed to be 3 weeks ago. All I could think was- she is this small now...three weeks ago her tummy must have been a tiny little bump! And she is almost 36 weeks!! I looked like this at 7 months! So great to meet you both. Can't wait to photograph Pizanno (hopefully he will have a different name by then...). :)

Laura and Bruno- Engaged!

They met on a plane on they way back to the US from Italy. Their seats were not next to each other...but one of the other passengers was kind enough to swap seats. They felt the connection immediately. Laura and Bruno knew it was true love. So they got married downtown....a month later! And now they are preparing for the "real" wedding (which I get to photograph next month!) Here are just a few of my favorites from our engagement session (which I guess I could technically call a "marriage session"? Ha!) Can't wait for the big day, Laura and Bruno!!
These two are so beautiful- and so photogenic! It was definitely a hot evening, but even as we melted we got some hot shots!
Bruno tried to act all shy....but I knew he had an inner super model! Work it, Bruno! Work it!!

Meet the M. Family!

Meet the M. Family- Shea, Brent, Madeline, Morgan...and Chloe! This session has been a long time in the making and I am so glad that we were finally able to get together! Shea was referred from one my very first clients- Melissa H. She was so excited for our session- as was I! Her girls are adorable!!
And just too sweet!
My favorite out takes: Just look at that face! Hysterical! Do you think she is over it??!! ha!

And what do you get when you mix a photo session with a 2 year old, a one year old, and a dog? Some laughs! That's for sure!

My Studio Renovation! YEAH!

The studio demo has begun! (and thanks to my hubby for grabbing these snapshots with his point-n-shoot camera). So here is a run down of all the fun "stuff" that comes along with renovations and demos.
Day 1-4. Some of Pete's staffers tore down the old garage door and put up siding on the outside. The they hung those awesome french doors (which will get painted one of these days)!
Day 5. It rained, and rained, and rained...and flooded the room. About 2 inches of water. So that was not too good. Fortunately no water got into the other side, which is currently my working studio.
Day 10 and 11. All dried up and ready to be emptied! This building was constructed in the 1920's...and I think some stuff from back then was still housed on this side! ha! There was alot of junk in what I used to lovingly call "the dungeon". My mom and Ethan were great helpers. (Though I am not too sure if Ethan helped or just made things messier- but he had fun!) Here is how the rest of the day went: empty out as much junk as we could, scrape up my legs, get attacked by mosquitos, cover everyone in Off and sunscreen (probably would have been better as step #1), knocked over the beautiful pedestal (and broke it) that was supposed to hold the sink in the bathroom that will eventually be built), curse, sweat, install subfloor, knock down wall between current studio and "the dungeon", sweat some more, bring dry wall and wood scraps out to the curb, continue sweating, step in poo, curse some more....done for the day.
Lots more to get done, but at least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! My next scheduled studio session is in 1 week- plenty of time...right??!! fingers crossed.....

Obama Dines at Roy's!

How cool is this? My friend Jayne sent me this picture. She is one of the marketing directors for OSI (Outback) in CA. (Sniffle, sniffle...she moved from Tampa over a year ago after working at Bonefish.) Anyway, hours before announcing the Joe Biden VP nomination, Barack and his family dined at Roy's Chicago. He is a big fan and has dined regularly for years. He also spent Father's Day there. This is the first time the paparazzi followed him. Nice pic if I do say so myself! His faves: short ribs and butterfish and of course- the Hawaiian Martini! (And BTW- this is not a "Vote for Barack" thing. Just thought it was neat....) The Closing Ceremony....

Well, it has been 17 days of excitement! I do love the Olympics- and gymnastics and swimming rocked my world! Volleyball was pretty fun to watch, too- but my heart was with Michael, Nastia, and Shawn! I have not had time to post my recent options since we have been up so late every night watching- so here is my quick recap:

Micheal Phelps- AMAZING, truly amazing! The fly? It was a nail biter. We were screaming! And the 4 x100- does it get any more exciting? Lezack was almost a body length behind- he is an animal. The team was just incredible. I am definitely a Phelps Phan! (How can you not be??!!)

Gymnastics- Lastia got robbed on bars. But I am so glad Shawn on beam. She is too cute. I would love to go to London in 2012. OK, so if you can get me tickets- free portraits sessions- for life! ha! Time for bed- I have 17 days worth of sleep to catch up on....

Welcome Sophie Rose!

Sophie Rose is finally here. Though I swear her mommy just told me she was pregnant...time does fly- doesn't it?! At just 10 days old, Sophie is already a super model (yes...newborn sessions should happen as early as possible- preferably at 7-10 days old, when they are still all "curly"). And being a model is tough work- especially for mommies and daddies, who get pee and poo showers! ha! Congrats Helen and Tony and Olivia- so happy for the F. family!

It's Holiday Time....Already!

I can't believe it- but it is time to start thinking about the holidays already! Those of you who were with me last year (my first holiday season!!), know how it goes (and thanks for being on the ball and scheduling your holiday session already!). For my newbies, this is the drill- my holiday cards ROCK! They are 5x7 or 5x5 folded on a heavy cardstock linen or watercolor paper. They are totally customized (images, colors, fonts, text) and will definitely WOW your family and friends! You can either schedule a new session or use images from one of your sessions this year. Your session MUST be scheduled by November 1 to guarantee your order in time for the holidays. I am considering a holiday mini session for clients who already had a session this year- I will keep you posted!

Olympic Outrage.

Well, more Olympic controversy! I have to admit that I was very mad last night that Nastia Liukin was not sharing the gold medal on top of the podium with He Kexin of China. After all, their routines scored the exact same! There is definitely a flaw in the scoring system- and as a gymnastics judge, I feel confident in that! My heart broke for Nastia- however, she did claim the biggest metal of them all in Olympic gymnastics- the all around gold! It just seems that the Americans are getting ripped. Did you see vault event finals? Alicia Sacramone's vault not only soared over Chenf Fei, but she landed on her feet!! When I judge, if you don't land on your feet first, the vault is a void- a zero! Seemed to me that not only did Fei fall, but she did not land feet first. I honestly thought she was going to get a void vault- and then she medals?? There is a problem here! Whew- glad I got that out! Anyway, way to go team USA! Can't wait for balance beam finals tonight! And am I the only one staying up all night, every night, watching the Olympics? I gotta get some sleep! ha!

Baby on Board!

Ohh, to look this good when you are 5 days shy of giving birth! ha! Helen was such a trouper. Helen is a great friend of mine- and was one of my first maternity "models" when I started my business. This time we had our session on location in her home. Keep your eyes posted for her newborn pics soon!

And thanks for your patience while I was on vacation these past few days. I will return all calls and e-mails asap! We had a great time at Palm Coast- I will post some images soon. And of course, I will post some more Olympic updates and opinions, as well!

Are you loving the Olympics??? I sure am! Gymnastics update- the men's team took bronze. Pretty impressive, especially considering that this was the 1st Olympics for all of the team members, and they lost 2 of their best veterans...the Hamm brothers. The women's team struggled a bit, but still managed to grab the silver (amongst controversy that the Chinese competed with under aged girls). I am sitting here watching swimming- with my laptop..well, on my lap- just as Michael Phelps has won yet another gold metal- in the 200IM. The man is incredible! He has 26 individual world records. And he just seems so darn nice! Pete and I are talking about how we want to be in the Olympics- ya' think it might be too late?? Ha! Maybe Ethan will be one day- he is as obsessed with it right now as we are- and he is 2!! More Olympics to come...I'm lovin' it!! Did I mention that already?

And a shout out to all the Gators in the Olympics!! So far, we have athletes competing in swimming (Dara Torres, Ryan Lochte, amongst others), women's basketball, baseball, women's soccer, and tennis. More Gators to come...it's a Gator Nation!!

Olympic Update....

The men's relay was AMAZING! If you missed it, you have to go online to see a re-cap! I had goose bumps watching as Jason Lezak (the anchor) charged to the wall- starting the lap almost half a body length behind the French (who had been smack talking the US---in your face, France!) The team shattered the world record with a time of 3:08.34. Truly awe inspiring! Michael Phelps (above) lead the team with an American record in the first 100m, bringing him that much closer to 8 gold metals!
On the other hand, it was a rough start for the US Women's Gymnastics team as we struggled through the prelims tonight. Injuries, falls, out of bounds...lots of disappointments for our girls. But, I am confident that we will come back strong- and after the pep talk seen here that the team gave each other, it looks like they can- they know they can- and have to- do better! Overall, some very impressive gymnastics. Ethan did a few flips on the couch in celebration! GO USA!!!!

Spotlight on.....Invent Your Image!

The Olympics are here! Go USA!!!

I am so excited!! The Olympics are here! Of course I am most excited about gymnastics! I was a competitive gymnast for years and am a level 10 judge now. The US team is awesome and I wish I could be there! One of these days I am determined to make it to an Olympics! We actually were in Athens 5 days before the last Olympics...so close! Anyway, several friends have been asking me about the Olympic scoring system for gymnastics, so here is a brief explanation:

A perfect 10 is no longer an option! This (in my opinion) is both a positive and a negative. There was always something amazing about achieving that perfect 10! It was historical- think Mary Lou! Now there are 2 panels of judges- panel A scores the difficulty of the skills being performed (valued at A through G, G being worth the most). Panel B scores the execution and artistry of the skills- basically how well they are performed. The gymnast gets points for each skill she performs based on the value and loses points for mistakes. Then the 2 panels add their scores together for a combined score. The gymnasts who are doing the more difficult skills will be rewarded, over the gymnasts who play it safe. You will see scores in the 15's, 16's, and 17's.

Cole is ONE!

Yep, it's been over a year now since Andi Diamond Photography was born- for one thing...several of my maternity sessions are coming in for their one year baby portraits! It is such a great experience for me to see these families grow. You may remember Cole as the kiddo who coined "Suspended Baby" (*first image), and started the craze in Tampa (OK, so maybe not a craze...but it is pretty popular now! ha!) Well, he is one now and adorable (as if there was ever any doubt??!!) His eyes, well let's just say there is a joke that his mom and dad are brother and sister (of course they are not- but his eyes are this amazing green, super unique, and both his mommy and daddy have the exact same color!!) So the first pic is super cool because Doug got the tattoo after Cole was born to represent his son. It has alot of symbolism in it (on a side note, Pete and I were watching Miami Ink tonight and this would have made a great story for the show!!) And those squishy, little baby buns! Love them! Thanks so much for putting your trust in my work, Doug and Brit. (and I hope Cole was not on too much of a sugar high after that birthday cake-ha!) That future Gator is a super stud!

Meet Wilson!

This adorable little guy in the youngest of 5! Yep- 5! And he is just as cute as he can be! His Mom found out about me at Yogani, where I teach infant massage. I guess if you are the baby in a family of 5, you just have to be laid back and just go with the flow, right? Well, he is for sure! And Mom is just as cool, calm, and collected (and even gave me some great advice on Ethan's non- sleep issues at night...more about that another time! ha!) Turns out, she is Gator (I knew I liked her!!), and we were in the same sorority (Zeta Tau Alpha), just a few years apart. Small world! Enjoy your sneak peek, Dana. Great meeting you!

It's almost that time of year again...when Ben Hill Griffin Stadium fills will crazed Gator fans and we all scream with excitement- Orange and Blue! Orange and Blue! I can't wait for college football- and the University of Florida Gators (oh- and the lady Gators gymnastics team rocks, too!)

Trimble is ONE!

What a FUN session! Trimble is ONE! I cannot believe it! This family holds a very special place in my heart- they have been with me since the beginning of Andi Diamond Photography! I photographed his mommy and daddy when he was a lump in her belly, I was honored to photograph his birth, then came newborn, 6 months, and now 1 year! He is so cute I can't stand it! I think he might have liked his cake a bit...what do you think?

So after cake and pictures, what with all that sticky mess.....Melissa and Kenzie decided to go for a dip- yep- fully clothed- right off the dock! Why not, right? It was hilarious! You see Robbie and Trimble looking at them in the corner? I bet they were thinking, "Those two are nuts!!"
Of course, we had to get Daddy and Trimble in on the action as well! Check out those faces! Thanks for all the support and for believing in me H. Family! I appreciate it more than you know! And happy birthday Trimble! :)A

CONGRATULATIONS to Kelly and Eric H! This amazing couple got married on Saturday at the St. Pete Yacht Club. It was so beautiful and I had a blast photographing it! One of my best friend's (Kelly Hite-who is also a photographer) in Jacksonville, flew in to second shoot this wedding with me. Check out her site (www.khitephotography.com). We loved it! Our brains work alot alike so that made things easy- and fun!
Check out that cool car! Kelly and Eric's neighbor let them borrow it. You should see the images I captured of Eric trying to get it started after it stalled! ha!

I feel especially vested in this wedding because my hubby and I had a little something to do with it! We set them up! I do love playing match-maker...even more so when it ends in marriage! Yeah! I love the graffiti (no I am not saying it is ok to vandalize, but it does make a great artistic contrast with a bride in her wedding gown!)
Kelly's girls are adorable! Jessie was so happy for her mom- and she adores her new step dad!
I love hands. They tell such a story. Can't you just feel the emotion here??!!
And just over the hands, we catch a glimpse of Juliana! I have never seen a little girl sob the way she did with happiness over her mom and Eric's love! It was heart melting!
Don't worry, Eric- no one noticed that little flub on your vows. Counsel me, counsel you, go to me for counsel- whatever....we all know what you were trying to say! ha!

David Cook! OK, I admit it- I LOVE American Idol. No, I did not vote (this season, ha!), but I really love it- and what a great season it was! Despite two of my faves getting the boot way too early (Carly and Michael), I really loved the Davids. BUT- our DVR cut out with 30 seconds to go just before Ryan made the announcement! AAHH! I almost went crazy! So I ran to my computer and could not find the video anywhere. Hopefully it will be up tomorrow. Anyway, now that Dancing With the Stars, Idol, and The Office are over, what will we watch??!!

Congrats to Kelly W. on winning the Mother's Day Blog contest (and a $150 credit to use at her next session!!) I really appreciate all of the entries- it was very hard to narrow down a winner. I love this sweet picture that Kelly sent to me along with her essay. Why bother trying to keep your house clean when you have a toddler who is just going to play Uno in your coffee table anyway? ha! Here is a little caption from Kelly's entry that really won my heart:
"So what does being a mom mean to me? That's easy! This session was so fun! I can understand how a boudouir session can be a little scary, but I try to make it super relxed, easy, and fun! And that is what this was! Ms. L is absolutely beautiful and has a deep appreciation for artwork- especially nudes; so she decided she would go for it and try it herself! We had a blast! While all of the images are very tasteful, classy, and artistically composed, these were a few of the images that I felt were "PG" enough for my blog- plus I love them! I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Laura and Patrick's wedding this weekend. I know that couples are in love when they get married- but this couple is SO IN LOVE that you could truly feel it! It warmed my heart and gave me goosebumps! We have so many incredible captures from the wedding, but I wanted to post a few just as a teaser. The wedding was at the Sand Pearl Resort on Clearwater Beach and it was absolutely beautiful! Congrats Laura and Patrick! May you have many wonderful, happy, healthy years together!

Tampa is lucky to have a very talented photography community. So I always feel honored when a new client chooses to come to me. I feel especially honored when that new client is another photographer! Mrs. H. is a very well known wedding photographer in Tampa Bay- and her work is quite impressive! She wanted to do a boudoir session as a surprise birthday gift to her hubby (great gift, huh??!!!). Well, I am confident he will be surprised- and that he will just love how beautiful his wife looks! I have had quite a few women (from their 20ies to their 40ies) booking boudoir sessions recently, and I say- Go For It Ladies! The female figure is so beautiful and definately needs to be celebrated as a piece of art! (and no- you do not have to be a size 0...just comfortable in your own skin. Trust me, I photograph all shapes and sizes.) Wish I could share more of Mrs. H...but some things are not for the eyes of the general public.....ha!

So Why Hire a Custom Portrait Photographer?

"Isn't it all the same?", says Suzy Q. client. And I say with a resounding (yet kind), NO, NO, NO.....and NO- it is not. For those of you who are already either a client of mine or a client of another custom portrait photographer...first of all THANK YOU (though my thank you would be even bigger if you were a client of mine...ha!)! And second, CONGRATULATIONS! You are taking the first step in creating family heirlooms that you will forever treasure. I will be the first to say that I understand how people feel when the say, "How can you charge X or Y? I have a digital camera and I think I can do that.... right?" And I will be the first to try to educate others on the beauty of custom portrait photography and the value of the experience that you will get with Andi Diamond Photography. So, here is the first tid bit in my lesson that I will be sharing:

What is Custom Photography?
The photographic art you choose to place on your wall is ultimately the result of the vision of the photographer. This vision, coupled with what you wear to your session, the environment, the lighting, even the mood the subjects are in at the time of photographing creates the work that you will want to proudly display on your walls forevermore.

Your first step in the process is more about determining who you are, who your family is and then seeking a photographer that reflects your style. For instance let’s say your family is extremely outdoorsy and loves playing on the beach. You start determining what style you like, browse through photography website portfolios and determine if any of the styles exhibited there would be a good fit with your life and family style. You have already determined that you should probably seek out a beach type photographer (that is if you live near a beach) and then begin narrowing the field down a bit.
Finally after a bit of internet research, you have narrowed it down to two photographers who do what seems like solid work, the sort of outdoor beach look you desire. It is now time to ask yourself: Do you like photographer A’s style over photographer B’s style? Is it because the people in the images of A’s style are having a great time and it seems very caught up in the moment vs. B photographer more posed, looking in the camera images? If this is a case, you probably like LIFESTYLE photography or perhaps even take it a step further and define your desired style as a PHOTOJOURNALISTIC photography style. The photographer you probably should choose is photographer A because their style is very similar to the style you desire.
What custom photography ultimately is all about is choice and experience (as in THE experience). Custom photography is about finding someone who will photograph your family, give you devoted 1:1 attention without worry of the next ‘in line’ or the feeling of a crowded portrait studio. A custom photographer will typically show you a fairly extensive gallery culled to only show the good images that meet the photographers’ creative sensibilities. Often the images are fully edited images-color corrected with blemishes and undereye circles removed. Custom photographers are also known as boutique studios, offering a range of products and unparalleled service. Think Lexus vs. Hyundai, think Nordstrom vs. WalMart.
Custom photography should have you, the client and your experience in mind.

Why Photographs are so Important....

I recently got an e-mail from a client after having her family session. She needed to reschedule our ordering session because her dad ended up in the hospital. Fortunately he is home now, and recovering well. But her e-mail said something that really made me think. She wrote,

"My Dad is out of he hospital now. The docs told him he dodged a bullet. For a day or so, I was beginning to think your photographs were going to be our last ones. He managed to even scare himself".

First of all, I am so glad her dad is home and well! But my reason for sharing this is to hopefully help people to see the true value of custom portraits. Our minds will always be our most powerful source of imagery, with photography coming a close second (and if your memory is as poor as mine, photography comes in first!) Photography captures moments in time that you will never get back. Photographs of loved ones are what we cherish long after they are gone. Photographs are what people wish they had more of after their children have grown. Photographs are what people want to save after natural disasters, fires, etc. Photographs remind us of feelings, emotions, and can transport us back in time. They are invaluable...Just a little something I wanted to share....

I really feel like my business is coming full circle when I photograph one year olds after I photographed their mommies maternity, their birth, their newborn, and their 6 month sessions! Yes, you read that correctly! The S. Family has 2 sets of twins! Shea and Noelle were welcomed into the world by their mommy and daddy, and twins 3 year old brothers on Dec 29th! Isn't that incredible??!! (And don't hate this mommy- but yes- she is the tiny-est thing you have ever seen! ha!) If I had 4 kids, I can promise you I would not look this amazing! So glad I had the opportunity to meet the rest of the gang! Congrats Jen and Pete!

I have to admit that 6 months olds are some of my favorite kiddos to photograph. The babies have really developed a personality and are so full of smiles...and they cannot run off of my canvas! ha! And Sofia is no exception to this! This girl is such a cutie- with the biggest blue eyes! She brought her whole family with her for her session...mommy and daddy, 3 grandmas, and 2 grandpas. So much love to go around!

If I have said it once, I have said it a hundred times....times flies! I feel like Rick and Dina just found out they were having a baby, and then I feel like I was just at the hospital taking pictures of this little guy when he was just hours old, and now- he is 6 months! Every day that passes goes so fast and so many incredible things happen in all of our lives every day. I recently went to an amazing photography seminar and the speaker said something that I thought was very profound. She said "What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it." WOW- I just love that. I thought this was very applicable to the S. Family considering daddy is very far away right now, working his tail off for his family...and missing them terribly (and vice versa) . I love you guys!! And miss you Rick!

I got an email this morning from the T. family that really made me smile!! They sent me these images of their home with the wall collection that they designed! Gave me chills of excitement! What a fun maternity session! I have to say, this family really "got it"! I want for our sessions together to be fun, spontanious, silly, and relaxed- and this was just that! The Kissing Booth!

Here we are...just a bunch of nerdy photographers having fun in a photo booth at our conference (where there were over 600 booths of fun stuff to play with!) Four of us girls all stayed together and had so much fun! OK, so your idea of a fun dinner out may not include talk of all the latest and greatest photography "stuff"- but we were in heaven!

I just got back from "Imaging USA"- the Professional Photographers of America's national conference. I LOVED it! There are so many exciting new ideas, concepts, products, and techniques out there- and I am happy to say that I have selected some of my favorites for my clients! One of my most exciting new products lines---custom framing! I selected a line of the most beautiful, elegant, funky, contemporary, and artistic frames I could find. This will really help to display the artwork that we create together in your home! There is something for every distinct taste. So, most of my collections will now come with custom frames! YIPPEE! (it's the little things that make me happy, can you tell?? ha!) It's a New year...and Oh How I Have Grown (thank goodness!)

Yep! It's a new year again and I can confidently pat myself on the back and say "Ya done good, kid!" Of course there is still plenty to learn (in fact, I am going to the largest national photographers convention hosted by the Professional Photographers Association this weekend!) But overall I can say that I am very proud of what I have accomplished in my first year of business. Here is a brief look back at the scary beginnings just to show you (and me!) how I have grown and improved! (and to show those out there with expensive cameras that it really is the person behind the camera that makes the image...not the camera.) Thanks to all of my wonderful girlfriends who let me use them as models...and thanks for not killing me for posting these! ha! Happy New Year everyone! Not too sure what happened here, too dark, silk not wrapped properly, nice underware showing....

Look How Trimble Has Grown!

One of the most exciting and rewarding parts of my job is building relationships with my clients and being able to see their children grow. I photographed Trimble's parent's maternity session, his birth, his newborn...and now his 6 month session! I cannot believe it! How fun to be able to see how this little guy is growing and changing. Before we know it, it will be time for his one year shoot! WOW!

How fun! To have ten family members all together for the holidays! Coming from a small family myself, I can only imagine how wonderful it is to have all the kids together for Christmas- especially if you get to hang out on the St. Pete beach! It was a beautiful evening for a beautiful family (too bad half of them are headed back to cold weather.....). Happy new year to you all- and the rest of my clients as well!!

Whew! I finally had a minute to breath, so I figured it was about time I got my own family's Christmas cards done! ha! And then I remembered why I am like the shoe maker who has holes in my own shoes....because it is extremely difficult to photograph your own child! (which is why I do not have more pictures of him! :( sigh.....)
But I managed to get enough today to make an adorable Christmas card. So, I am off to design that! Until next time...

For the second year in a row, my family did the deep fried turkey thing...because we like low fat...ha ha! (Actually I usually do, but is there such thing this time of year?) So we all gathered around the table as Pete and Adam brought in the bird, carved it up, and served it to all 16 of us! And it was YUMMY! Not a belly left my house without being full. And the sides??!!! Heaven! And guess what we had for dinner tonight? and probably for the next 5 nights! Hope yours was wonderful- and calorie rich!

When Peggy called to book her maternity session after finding my website online, we quickly realized that were sorority sisters together at the University of Florida! What a great surprise for us both! And she has not changed- she has only gotten prettier..and her belly a little rounder- ha! Tim was a great model! So good to see you again Peggy! A Pea in the Pod's Next Top Model

Move move America's Next Top Model- this is America's next top maternity model...isn't she beautiful??!! Kim, Jeff, and Austin were so fun to photograph. I think "A Pea in the Pod" will be knocking on your door any day, Kim! (For those of you who have never been in that store...think $200 for a maternity tank top! When my husband and I first went in there, they handed him a bottle of water and told him to make himself comfortable...he knew he was in trouble!! Fortunately- I love sales! ha!) Austin did a really great job--- I followed your lead, Austin! I have found that guys tend to be a bit unsure of these pictures- not Jeff! A+ for the whole family!

I know I have done the "math" title already, but it is late, I am tired- and I have run out of witty things to say this late at night (you guys all have me slammed with holiday sessions and orders--and I LOVE it!) ha! So for the third time in 3 weeks, I photographed another couple expecting twins..must be something in the water! Katrina and Danny were so fun to photograph. We played "supermodel" and Katrina was definately super! I am excited to meet the boys!

I LOVE maternity sessions! When else does a woman have permission to pose half naked in front of a camera and feel super sexy about showing off all her curves? (unless of course you are a Victoria's Secret model- and well, that's just not reality!) I also love hearing a husband tell his wife how beautiful she looks...it is so sweet! It seems like I have had a slew of 2-year-olds lately. Each with thier own personality, ideas, and thought processes...I really find it amazing! Little Miss Lila Bo arrived to our photo shoot looking like the most hip, shabby chic two year though- in her peasant top and cowboy boots! What a doll! And those dimples! Makes me melt! And Lila's mom has her Ph.D in child development....you know I love that!

Meet Tanya.....A Diamond Girl!

Tanya won the prize for farthest distance traveled for her Diamond Girls shoot. She came in from California! (OK, so she was coming here for a business trip but she heard about me and the Diamond Girls project through a mutal friend (Jayne) and came a day early for our session!) This girl is HOT! We had so much fun! Jayne brought the champagne (pink, of course) and the flowers in celebration of Tanya's chemo completion and recent mastectomy- and amazing recovery! (She just had surgery 3 weeks ago! What a trouper!) If these images strike a nerve, they are intended to. They are intended to shock you, draw emotion, and appreciate the beauty that lies within all of my Diamond Girls (and other women facing breast cancer). Meet Dora...a Diamond Girl- and what a diamond she is! I had so much fun today getting to know Dora- she has some aMAYSing stories (wink, wink...) of faith , courgae, inspiration, and triumph! We actually designed the first image based on a very powerful and spiritual experience she had while on chemo, when she looked at herself in the mirror one day. Yesterday may have been a little "blah" outside, but it was a great day for location portraits! (minus the no-see-ums, red ants, and biting flies that is.....I don't make this stuff up! WOW- how times flies...as I am sure Mike and Colleen are thinking as they get ready to send their oldest daughter, Kay, off to college....tomorrow! What an incredible day today was! And since the weather is getting so much cooler out now, many of you are taking our sessions outdoors and going on location (which I LOVE)! The M. family had so much fun out on Indian Rocks Beach today...and these 2 boys are so stinkin' cute! Jack is 4 and Alex is 3 so as you can imagine, they had the most fun running around and chasing the seagulls! But image one has to be my favorite- because when you are 3, it is perfectly acceptable to take off your pants at the beach just beacuse you want to! ha! Here's to many more beautiful weekends!!

Meet the Pink Ladies (Paula, Eileen- aka- my Mom!, and Joy). They all are on a dragon boat team together. The entire team consists of breast cancer survivors! And let me tell you....they will kick your ass in that water any day! If you have never tried this sport, you should. It is actually recommended to breast cancer survivors because of the amazing strength and cardio benefits (not to mention the emotional support.) Tampa is hosting Nationals in April by Channelside so come out and watch!

Meet Joy...A Diamond Girl!

I have been so honored by all of the women who have jumped at the chance to participate in the Diamond Girls! Joy and her partner, Wendy, drove in from Gainesville yesterday for their photo shoot! (I might add that Wendy was not jumping up and down about getting her picture taken- but she sure was a GREAT sport!! We laughed alot! I am proud of you both!) I LOVE this image for so many reasons. First- make note of those 12 butterfly tattoos all over Joy's chest. AMAZING! She proudly wears those butterflies in place of her breasts, which she chose not to have reconstructed (as many women also chose). Her attitude is so fun, spirited and full of joy. Wendy had us in stiches as well! Second, it reminds me that breast cancer does not just effect the patient- it effects the entire support system. It is my hope that the Diamond Girls project will empower my models, push them just slightly out of their comfort zone (in a fun way), and encourage them to really look at themselves and say, "DAMN! I am beautiful. I am an inspiration. And I am a SURVIVOR!" Thanks so much Joy and Wendy for making the drive to Tampa and sharing your story with me!

So familiar because all of her struggles were struggles that many women go through, only she to deal with breast cancer on top of it all. She rarely missed work, she pushed through the bad days, and she has come out a stronger, more beautiful, and empowering SURVIVOR!
